Robert F. Moran named to USATF Foundation Board of Directors

INDIANAPOLIS – Robert F. Moran, Chairman & CEO, PetSmart, has been named as a Director of the USA Track & Field Foundation Board, USATF Foundation Executive Director Tom Jackovic and Chairman Bob Greifeld announced today.

“I’m sincerely honored to join the USA Track & Field Foundation in its work to support our nation’s most talented track and field athletes,” said Bob Moran, Chairman and CEO, PetSmart. “This unique organization plays a critical role in helping these athletes pursue their lifelong dreams, and I look forward to supporting their journey to success.”

Bob Moran has more than 25 years of senior corporate experience in international retail. Moran joined PetSmart in July 1999 as President of North American stores and quickly worked his way up the corporate structure. In December of 2001, he was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer. Moran was then appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in June 2009 and in January of this year, was appointed Chairman of PetSmart.

Prior to PetSmart, Bob was president, Toys ‘R’ Us Canada, where he led a successful turn-around, doubling the division’s sales revenue over a two-year period.

From 1996 to 1998, Moran was President and Chief Executive Officer of Sears de Mexico. He served as the division’s Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer in 1995 and, from 1993 to 1995, was Finance Manager for Sears Home Group. Bob has also held senior finance and operating management positions with Sears divisions in Europe, Latin America and the United States, and was Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice-President of Galerias Preciados, one of Spain’s leading department store chains.

A track & field aficionado, Bob and has followed Team USA and the sport his entire life. Moran lives in Phoenix, Arizona.



The USATF Foundation provides a means to attract and guide funds to new and innovative track and field programs with an emphasis on providing opportunities for youth athletes, emerging and experienced elite athletes, along with guidance on future career paths. The Foundation depends upon donations from its Board of Directors, major gifts, and from generous fans of track & field.

Elite athletes are supported by the Foundation via monetary grants, career counseling (mentoring and jobs) and participation in Run With US!. Youth athletes are supported via monetary grants to youth clubs.
