Maternity Grant Application

To be considered for a USATF Foundation Maternity Grant, please begin by filling out the Elite Grant Application listed above.  Our Maternity Grant Committee will utilize the application information to consider your grant request.   In addition to the Elite Grant Application please send along a formal letter for the committee to review.  USATF Foundation is accepting formal letters of request for funding throughout the year.  The Maternity Grant committee will consider and award grants on a quarterly basis dependent on available funding.

Please include in your letter:

  • A detailed description of your current situation (expecting or recovering from childbirth)
  • Timeline including estimated due date and estimated time frame when your training became affected by pregnancy
  • Include your intentions and plans for after child birth
  • List your most recent competition date where you were in peak form and the time / mark of the performance
  • Were you ever ranked in the top 20 in the US or top 50 in the world within the 2 years before you became pregnant?  If yes, please list the ranking, month/year and by what source.
  • How Foundation funding would benefit you personally and in your track & field/running career.

Maternity Grant Eligibility

For an athlete to be considered, an athlete must:

  • Be a USA citizen and eligible to represent the USA at all levels of international competition as of application date; and
  • Be training for the next World Championships or Olympic Games before conception date and have intentions to do so after childbirth; and
  • Rank in at least one of the following before pregnancy date:
          1. “TOP 20 IN THE USA” in their event in either of the past two years; and/or
          2. “TOP 50 IN THE WORLD”, and/or
          3. “TOP 5 IN THE NCAA” standings (if applicant graduated College and turned pro within the previous 18 months before application date).

PLEASE NOTE:

Grants will only be awarded to athletes who are going through pregnancy and childbirth themselves, not to a spouse or significant other of an athlete in this situation.  We will only be accepting applications for pregnant mothers or those recovering from childbirth (up to 12 months post-birth). At this time each athlete is only eligible for one grant per pregnancy.

The USATF Foundation provides a means to attract and guide funds to new and innovative track and field programs with an emphasis on providing opportunities for youth athletes, emerging and experienced elite athletes, along with guidance on future career paths. The Foundation depends upon donations from its Board of Directors, major gifts, and from generous fans of track & field.

Elite athletes are supported by the Foundation via monetary grants, career counseling (mentoring and jobs) and participation in Run With US!. Youth athletes are supported via monetary grants to youth clubs.
