Adopt An Athlete

Training and competing at the highest level of track & field requires extraordinary dedication and significant financial resources. Behind every race, jump, throw, and medal is an athlete investing countless hours into training, travel, coaching, recovery, equipment, and competition.

HELP AN OLYMPIC HOPEFUL CHASE THEir DREAM

What if you could play a personal role in an athlete’s journey to the Olympic Games? The USATF Foundation’s Adopt an Athlete Program gives individuals, families, and groups the opportunity to directly support an elite American track & field athlete with a minimum $10,000 charitable contribution.

Your support can help relieve some of the financial pressure that comes with pursuing a career at the highest level, allowing an athlete to focus more of their energy on what matters most: training, competing, and chasing their dreams.

* Minimum donation of $10,000 required to participate in the Adopt An Athlete program.

To earn it after having the best year of my career at age 29 justifies the many years of working hard, taking risks and trusting the process to get here. Feeling the support of an organization through a grant like this is so inspiring for building on this momentum moving forwards.

Beyond the financial support, I gained mentors and supporters who share a similar passion. It’s more familiar faces at races amongst scenery that is all brand new to me and I’m forever grateful.

This grant has helped offset many of the small but constant costs that come with training at the highest level, such as massages, physical therapy, and chiropractic care to keep my body healthy throughout the season, as well as essentials like wrist tape and replacement throwing shoes.

The lifestyle of a professional runner is unconventional, requiring extra support which can take its toll on families. Thanks to the Schwarzman and Adopt-An-Athlete grants I have received, financial strain for my household is significantly alleviated. I’m a 30-year old dad, and with the support of the USATF Foundation, I know my best days in athletics are ahead!
