DIY Fundraising Ideas

There are lots of things clubs have done successfully to raise more. Here are some proven ideas:

Reach Out to Local Businesses

Many businesses have their own fundraising programs for teams. A personal ask goes a long way.

Pledge Requests

Have athletes write and send handwritten pledge requests to friends, family, business owners, and neighbors.

Team Calendar

Design and sell a team calendar with athlete photos and meet days. Order from Shutterfly, Walgreens, BannerBuzz, FedEx, or Vistaprint.

Workout Calendar

Assign exercises to each day of the month (e.g. 15 push-ups, 10 burpees). Offer sponsorships at $10 per day — athletes must complete that day’s workout challenge. Each athlete has a calendar with a goal to get every day sponsored.

Gift Card Calendar

Have parents donate gift cards (any amount) and assign each to a day of the month. Athletes sell raffle tickets (e.g. $5 each) — each day a ticket is drawn and the winner receives that day’s assigned prize.

Host a Trivia Night

Charge an entry fee per team and award prizes. Great for community engagement and easy to organize.

Host a Bingo Night

Sell bingo cards and offer donated prizes. Fun for all ages and easy to run at a local community space.

Host a Bake Sale

Set up at a community event, meet, or local market. Have athletes and families contribute baked goods.

Host a 50/50 Raffle

Sell tickets at meets or events — half the pot goes to the winner, half to the club. Simple and effective.

Host a Silent Auction

Collect donated items and services from local businesses and auction them off at a club event.

Host a Basket Prize Raffle

Put together themed gift baskets donated by families and sell raffle tickets for a chance to win.

Host a Car Wash

A classic club fundraiser. Set up in a visible parking lot and have athletes run it — great team bonding too.

Host a Community 5K Run/Walk

Charge a registration fee and get local businesses to sponsor. Athletes can volunteer and showcase the club.
