Iphone 158NEW YORK CITY – The USA Track & Field Foundation was overjoyed to have six driven, talented, charismatic athletes from the New Jersey New York Track Club representing the Foundation at the TCS New York City Marathon Health and Fitness Expo this past weekend.

Over 50,000 participants flooded into the TCS New York City Marathon Healthy Living Expo.  For three days there was a solid stream of motivated and determined marathoners getting pumped up at the Jacob K. Javitz Convention Center.  One of their stops was at the GNC (General Nutrition Corporation) Live Well booth where sponsored GNC professional fitness champion Michelle Adams and professional bodybuilder Josh Reed combined forces with NJ*NY Track Club athletes Ashley Higginson, Travis Mahoney, Brian Gagnon and Lauren Penney, as well as Olympians Donn Cabral and Erin Donohue.

It was a successful and productive weekend spreading the word about the working partnership between the USA Track & Field Foundation and GNC.  The athletes were well-received as they met and took photographs with local, national, and international fans.

Despite the cold and rainy New York City weekend weather, the events surrounding the marathon as well as marathon day were extraordinary.  Saturday, November 1st was the NYRR Dash to the Finish Line 5K.  Over 7,400 participants braved the rain to race and participate in marathon weekend! The men’s winner was Foundation representative, NJ* NY TC athlete, and 2012 Olympian Donn Cabral with a time of 14:24.  Taking first place for the men in the Marathon was Wilson Kipsang from Kenya with a time of 2:10:59 and on the women’s side was Mary Keitany from Kenya, 2:25:07.
