Team Elite Athletics receives USATF Foundation Elite Grant

INDIANAPOLIS - The USA Track & Field Foundation has awarded an elite grant of $25,000 to Team Elite Athletics, announced Chairman Bob Greifeld and Executive Director Tom Jackovic today.

Founded by Ty Sevin, USOC Chula Vista Olympic Training Center Head Track Coach and USATF OTC Throws & Pole Vault Coach, Team Elite was formed with the intention of identifying potential Olympic athletes who are also committed to promoting fitness and healthy lifestyle choices to America’s youth by being positive role models, mentors and assisting with educational programs in their local communities.

“Ty Sevin gives his heart and soul to training Olympic hopefuls," noted Jackovic. "The USATF Foundation is elated to assist the elite athletes that train with Team Elite Athletics.”

Based in Chula Vista, CA, Team Elite athletes include 2012 Olympic hopefuls Melinda Owen (pole vault), Becky Holliday (pole vault), Jacob Pauli (pole vault), Ian Waltz (discus throw) and Mike Hazle (javelin throw).

Funds will be used for expenses such as uniforms & equipment (pole vault training poles), travel expenses, massage & chiropractic, and health insurance.

The USATF Foundation provides a means to attract and guide funds to new and innovative track and field programs with an emphasis on providing opportunities for youth athletes, emerging elite athletes, distance training centers and anti-doping education.
