James Broadhurst named to USATF Foundation Board of Directors10-25-2010INDIANAPOLIS - James Broadhurst, Chairman, Eat’n Park Hospitality Group, has been named as a Director of the USA Track & Field Foundation Board, USATF Foundation Executive Director Tom Jackovic and Chairman Bob Greifeld announced today. “Jim is a fantastic addition to our USATF Foundation Board,” said Greifeld. “His extensive leadership in philanthropy will be a valuable resource as we continue to expand our fundraising program. We are lucky to have him as part of our team.” Eat’n Park Hospitality Group is comprised of three integrated business divisions: Eat’n Park Restaurants, Parkhurst Dining Services & CURA Hospitality. After a seven year career in commercial banking with PNC Bank, Jim joined Eat’n Park in 1973 as Executive Vice President & Treasurer. He was elected President of Eat’n Park Restaurants in 1975 and nine years later, became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Eat’n Park Hospitality Group. Jim, a 1965 graduate of Penn State University, has had a long and distinguished relationship with the University. He was named the University’s 1994 Alumni Fellow by the College of Health and Human Development and in 1997 received the Distinguished Alumnus Award. In 1999, Jim was chosen to serve as the Conti Distinguished Professor. He was appointed to Penn State’s Board of Trustees in 1998 and from 2007 – 2010 he served as its Chairman. Jim also served as Chairman of the University’s major capital campaign, “A Grand Destiny: The Penn State Campaign” which raised nearly $1.4 billion. He was recently elected to the Board of the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Jim holds a Masters in Business Administration degree from the University of Pittsburgh, where he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Katz Graduate School of Business. Jim is extremely active in the community, serving on numerous Boards including the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, the Advisory Council of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, the Executive Advisory Council of Special Olympics Pennsylvania, and as an Emeritus Director of the National Restaurant Association. Jim has been recognized numerous times for his professional and civic accomplishments, amongst them, an Honorary Doctorate from Robert Morris University, the Hospitality Executive of the Year from the Penn State Hotel & Restaurant Society, the Pennsylvania Restaurant Association’s Restaurateur of the Year Award and the Keystone Award, the National Kidney Foundation Gift of Life Corporate Award, the American Red Cross Humanitarian Award, the Workplace Legacy Award from the People Report, and the Golden Achievement Award from Junior Achievement. With his wife Suzy, Jim has been honored with the “Elsie Award” from WQED-TV and Elsie Hillman, the Persons of Vision Award from the Pittsburgh Blind Association, the B’nai Zion Humanitarian Award, and the Art Rooney Award from Catholic Youth Association. Jim is a native of Titusville, Pennsylvania, where he played basketball and ran track. He is a member of the Titusville High School Sports Hall of Fame. Jim and Suzy have three sons who all work for Eat’n Park Hospitality Group. Their oldest son, Jeff, became President & CEO of Eat’n Park Hospitality Group in June, 2008. The USATF Foundation provides a means to attract and guide funds to new and innovative track & field programs with an emphasis on providing opportunities for youth athletes, emerging elite athletes, distance training centers and anti-doping education.
