Stephanie Brown Trafton, Elite Athlete Development Grant recipient, wins Women's Olympic Discus Gold Medal

Beijing – The USA Track & Field Foundation is extremely pleased to announce that Stephanie Brown Trafton, a USATF Foundation Elite Athlete Development Grant recipient in 2007 & 2008, has won the gold medal in the Women’s Discus, said Foundation Executive Director Tom Jackovic today.

"To witness a grant recipient accomplish the ultimate goal of winning an Olympic gold medal is very gratifying, and will only serve the Foundation’s continued efforts in support of America’s up-and-coming track & field athletes," Jackovic said.   

Leading up to the Olympic Games, Stephanie was competing at a very high level, having placed 1st at the Nike Prefontaine Classic.

The USATF Foundation Elite Athlete Grant program contributes to the pursuit of world-class performances by American post-collegiate track and field athletes. Athletes must meet minimum performance and income standards to be eligible. The Foundation assists people of all ages, all walks of life, and all ability levels in finding enjoyment and accomplishment and achieving fitness through our inclusive sport.
