USATF Foundation announces Youth Grant recipients

Indianapolis – The USA Track & Field Foundation awarded numerous youth grants during their 2008 summer Board of Directors meeting in Eugene, OR, announced USATF Foundation Executive Director Tom Jackovic on Wednesday.  The largest grant ($5000) was made to the Carrie Tollefson Training Camp (MN) to assist with expenses and scholarships for youth athletes.

Additional Foundation grants were also made to other track & field related organizations, including $1500 grants to the following clubs:                                                               

Southside Gliders Track Club (GA) - Uniforms, equipment

Rockwall Mustangs Track Club (TX) - Meet fees

Rapoport Academy Public School (TX) - Uniforms, shoes, equipment

NWO Pacesetters (OH) - Equipment, coaching certification

Jenks America Track Club (OK) - Uniforms, equipment

Hite Elementary Cross Country (KY) - T-shirts, medals, entry fees

Girls on The Run, Volusia County (FL) - T-shirts, equipment

Firebirds Athletic Club (MD) - Educational counseling

Erie X-Clusive Track Club (PA) - Uniforms, equipment

Aiken DPA PAL (SC) - Uniforms, meet fees, meals

Summerville Storm Track & Field Club (SC) - Travel expenses

Tuba City Rez Runners (AZ) - Travel expenses

Richmond Half-Steppers (CA) - Uniforms, facility rental expense

Skowhegan Parks & Rec. (ME) - Equipment, travel

Vision Elite Track Club (MD) - Reading program

Waukegan Invaders Track Club (IL) - Travel, equipment

William L. Sayre HS (PA) - Uniforms and equipment

Yoe Town Harriers Running Club (TX) - Uniforms, travel

Triangle Champions Track Club (NC) - Uniforms and travel

Cleats of Fire (MO) - Travel and equipment

Elite Track Club (TX) - Equipment

Central Florida Gliders (FL) - Travel

Zoom Track Club (CO) - Facility rentals, equipment

Show Me Vault Club (MO) - Pole Vault poles and mats                                

Castle Track Club (CA) - Travel, meet fees

Additionally, two $1000 grants were awarded to:

Prosser HS Track & Field (IL) - Uniforms

Committed 2 Community (CA) - Travel expenses

With track & field being the #1 participatory sport at both the high school and junior high school levels, the USATF Foundation is thrilled to expand the opportunities for so many athletes and clubs at the youth level.
