Chris Borch named to USATF Foundation Board of Directors

INDIANAPOLIS - Chris Borch, the Executive Director and President of Micro-Mechanics, has been named as a Director of the USA Track & Field Foundation Board, USATF Foundation Director Tom Jackovic announced on Friday.

The USATF Foundation provides a means to attract and guide funds to new and innovative track and field programs with an emphasis on providing opportunities for youth athletes, emerging athletes and anti-doping education.

Chris has over 25 years of engineering, manufacturing and management experience in the semiconductor industry, including 17 years living and working in Asia. Prior to founding Micro-Mechanics in 1983, he held positions with several leading makers of automatic assembly equipment including Kulicke & Soffa, Inc.

Chris earned his undergraduate degree from Furman University, where he ran track and established the Blue Shoes Track Scholarship Fund for men and women cross country, track and field athletes. He earned his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

In 1983, Micro-Mechanics began operations in Singapore with a founding capital of $1,200, one employee and a 500 square foot workshop. The company has since grown into a publicly-held global corporation with total assets of around $40 million, 400 people, five manufacturing facilities located in China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, as well as sales offices in Switzerland, Taiwan and the United States.
